THE DIRECTOR´S MESSAGE
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Agricultural and Rural Development Foundation-Ghana.
First of all, I wish to express my sincere thanks to the District Administration Winneba, the District Assembly of Awutu-Effutu-Senya,Winneba, David Garst of Coon Rapids, USA.
Reinhard Klophaus, Studienkolleg, University of Kassel, Germany, Dr. Jakob Weber, Consultant, Witzenhausen, Germany and Friedbert Apel, Automobile Spare Parts Dealer, Witzenhausen, Germany, for the advice and support they gave to us during the establishment of the foundation.
The art and science of crop and animal production are ever changing and education and training on ecological farming practices and methods are necessary for the production of healthy organic food products.
More than 70% of the people in Ghana live in the rural areas. The urbanisation process in Ghana is similar to that of other developing countries and the need to improve the standard of living and the productiveness in the rural areas do still need to be given a great attention.
Knowledge and skills are therefore very fundamental for the understanding of crop and animal husbandry in meeting the challenges of a change and demand for today and tomorrow.
No country can succeed unless its people have adequate knowledge and skills to bring in sustainable development.
Just as a microscope is an essential tool to identify pathogens, so is detailed analysis a prerequisite for effective development intervention.
As a foundation, our greatest strength lies in our willingness to reach out the rural communities, including the disadvantaged living in the remote and inaccessible areas of Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Winneba.
In our efforts to promote sustainable agriculture in the rural sector of the economy, we hope to have your support and assistance, that will help us to generate employment, income, safe drinking water, adequate housing and technological development
We also very eager to talk to others doing similar project activities elsewhere in the world for human resource development.
Agriculture is basic. Upon it rests cities, commerce and civilization. How much more inspiring is the story of a farmer upon whose success depends all other industries and activities.
In every situation there is a way forward. Please, join us in improving the society.
